Love the look of the Harbor, but don’t know what to do? 

There is so much to discover in Gig Harbor and the surrounding areas!  Whether you have a couple hours or a couple weeks to visit, here is a list of my favorite things to help set you off in the right direction (hyperlinks included).  Let me know if I’m missing anything and I’ll add it!


Go Eat:

Tides Tavern – Iconic to Gig Harbor, on the water

Netshed No. 9 – Great eclectic breakfast items, on the water

Devoted Kiss Café – Great food on the water

Mossimos – Located near the Purdy Spit, Italian, on the water

Thai Hut – One of three Thai places in the area, close to the water

Taqueria El Guero Food Truck – Only known food truck, Purdy, on the water

The Hub Gig Harbor – Local Airport’s restaurant, fun to watch the planes, great pizza!

Uptown – Our big shopping area with a lot of good restaurants

Brix 25 – On the fancier side, on the water

Brimstone – Newest BBQ restaurant in the harbor


Go Drink:

Heritage Distillery Tasting Room – Nationally known for their Brown Sugar Bourbon

Tides Tavern – So iconic to Gig Harbor, I’m listing it twice here, on the water, 21+

7 Seas – Local Brewery in the harbor

Local Boys Taproom – Best local selection of beers and ciders anywhere in the state

Table 47 – New restaurant, locally sourced, part of Ocean 5, new and fancy


Go Outside:

Downtown Waterfront – Free, walk around and on the local docks

Tacoma Narrows Park – Beautiful views of the “Galloping Gertie” bridge from the beach

Sunrise Park – Secluded beach park

Kopuchuck State Park – Beach park, best at low tide

McCormick Forest Park and Dog Park – Peaceful yet close

Sehmel Park – Playgrounds, Trails, and very nice sports fields

Fox Island Sand Spit – Beach, views of Mt. Rainier and Olympics at the same time

Gateway Park (360 Trails) – Horse, hiking, and mtn biking trails on Key Peninsula

Banner State Forest – Port Orchard, horse, hiking, and mtn biking trails


Go Tour:

Ocean 5 – New place to hang out with bowling, arcades, and a 2-story laser tag arena

Harbor History Museum – Free, on the water

Gig Harbor Boat Shop – Restoration projects, weekend boat-making projects, rentals, and good stories

Galaxy Movie Theatre – Plush seats!

USS Turner Joy – Bremerton, Decommissioned Destroyer, museum
